Mobile Praman is the IMEI check and phone record for India's second-hand mobile shops. We run the checks a dealer should run before money changes hands, we keep a time-stamped record that the check was run, and we carry the billing, stock and accounts that keep the shop straight.
Why we exist
India trades millions of used phones every month, almost all of it across small counters, on trust. In 2023 the criminal law was rewritten. Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 — §317(2), you do not need to know a phone was stolen to be liable for receiving it; having reason to believe is enough, and the offence is non-bailable. Most dealers are honest and have no way to show it. Our job is to give them the showing: a time-stamped record of what was checked, who sold the phone and what they signed — one the dealer can produce months later if the purchase is ever questioned.
Where we are
We started behind the counter — in repair lanes, mobile markets and wholesale corridors — watching dealers buy on instinct because nothing had been built for them. The software that existed was made for large retailers: English-only, priced for boardrooms, and blind to how a used-phone shop actually runs.
So we built the opposite. One system that opens on the seller, runs the device checks, writes the record, prices the deal, prints the bill and posts it to a real set of books — in the dealer's own language, on the phone in his pocket.
We are pre-launch, and we will keep saying so until it stops being true. There is no customer logo wall on this page, no invented count of shops signed up, and no number on this page whose source we cannot show you. A company that sells proof should be the last one asking you to take its word.

The seller is recorded first
Identity, consent and the signed declaration are captured before the device result comes back. So a deal you walk away from still leaves a complete record — and that is exactly the deal you will most want a record of.
Unavailable never becomes all-clear
When a source is down or a check cannot answer, the result reads unavailable and goes back in the queue. We do not round a failed check up to a pass. Only a real result moves a deal forward.
Red stops the deal
If a device matches a stolen or blacklisted record, the purchase is blocked at the counter and stays blocked for that IMEI. When a provider is down and a check simply cannot answer, the shop owner — only the owner, never a counter hand — can record a reason and proceed with care. That path is logged, and it can never produce a green.
We name what we actually checked
We check our own stolen-device records and our verification provider's. We are not a police clearance and not a government service, and we never call a phone clean, safe or genuine. We flag what we find and say where we looked. The final call rests with the authorities.
The books are not an afterthought
Every purchase and sale posts to real double-entry accounts, with the GST margin scheme applied automatically on used goods. A shop that verifies well and bills badly is still exposed.

The product ships in thirteen Indian languages, built for a mid-range phone on a patchy connection at a busy counter — not a boardroom laptop.
